SAWYA PEN SANS - Save Penzance Beach from concrete.

BIRSE NUCLEAR & CORNISH CONCRETE CO. - TRUE FREINDS OF PENZANCE??? According to Mike Waters they are! SEE BELOW FOR MORE ON THIS FARCE!

OPEN MESSAGE TO THE OFFICERS OF CORNWALL COUNCIL: 15.10.2010

Please copy to all relevant departments and interested parties. Thank you very much.

I would like to strongly recommend that the council abandons the

exorbitant and vastly unpopular plan to build over the above mentioned

beach area. Having campaigned to protect this beach and area of

rockpools and sea-bed for over two years, I feel that this whole issue

has become no less than a test-case for Democracy in Cornwall and that

the very credibility of the new Council hangs in the balance over this

case. The plan to destroy this unique natural environment, will cost

many millions of pounds, destroy the relationship between populace and

administration, and ultimately burden the Cornish tax-payer with a

massive bill, were the proposed 'super-ship' to be commisioined, as it

would demonstrably run at a loss due to vastly increased fuel costs

and declining tourist numbers.

Most serious of all, however, is the profoundly detrimental effect

this plan would have on the local wildlife. This tradgedy can still

be averted - greatly cheaper, more popular schemes have been proposed,

but apparently not given proper and rightful consideration by the

decision-makers. Having perosnally spoken to scores of tourists at

the site, going back two years, I can honestly say that there was not

a single person who was not horrified and distressed at the idea of

the Battery Rocks being lost. Again and again these people expressed

the obvious truth that Natural Beauty is the very thing that attracts

people to Cornwall - concreting over this beach really would be a case

of shooting oneself in the foot. In the name of the overwhealming

majority of Penzance and Penwith residents, I urge and implore the

council to abandon the so-called 'Option A' plan and save Penzance

from this unwanted mutilation.
Most sincerely, Jeremy Schanche
SAVE THE HOLY HEADLAND

Dear Friends, it is not too late to save Pen Sans - The Holy Headland - from being buried under concrete! Please take a few minutes and send your message of protest to Cornwall Council via email: http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=25332
please make your message polite and to the point. The council are talking about 'hard choices' and saving money - why not remind them how to save tens of millions of pounds by NOT destroying Penzance's only beach??? Since Cornwall thrives on foreign tourism, you do not need to be Cornish or English to get involved - we welcome overseas contributions. Nature belongs to everyone, so please take five minutes to help protect it for our children and the children of the future. Thank you friends....

ALSO... there is something else you can do..... An opinion poll is being conducted via the website of "This Is Cornwall" where you can register your disapproval of the ridiculous, destructive and expensive "Option A" scheme to concrete over the Battery Rocks area. It might be worth pointing out to the pollsters that their wording of said poll is deceptive, still trying to suggest that what is at stake is the 'Scilly Link' (or ferry service, as it used to be called) - this is not the case - only 'Option A' is at stake here... do not be fooled by the corrupt capitalist press - vote anyway and tell them what you think! Link follows:

In the late stages of this 'info-war', this conceptual battle of words, it is important that public opinion is seen to be resolute in its desire to SAVE THE BEACH. This poll is open to anyone in the World. Thanks for voting.

BIRSE NUCLEAR - A TRUE FRIEND OF PENZANCE?????
Now let us take a quick glimpse at the self-styled 'True Friends of Penzance', that ridiculous group of self-interested merchants who have attempted to seize, pollute, warp and lie their way into the public consciousness of Pen Sans - the people who would bury their own heritage for a longed-for but non-existent purse of silver.....

WHY LOOK! There's old Hugh Harazi, at Cornish Concrete Limited! I wonder what good old Hugh could possibly hope to gain from 'Option A'............ and look! There's Mr Ged Wright of Birse and Co., those nuclear waste merchants, who are waiting in the wings to collect a multi-million pound hand out from their masonic pals in Cornwall Councill..... surprise, surprise.....
and LOOK! There's Mr Richard Tatlow, also of that well-known group of environmentalists, THE CORNISH CONCRETE COMPANY LIMITED...... & of course, Mr Tim Dwelly, whose dodgy pals at Cornwall Council have just awarded a Multi Million Pound Contract to subject Cornwall to broadband..... What a sordid and embarrassing display of cronyism, greed and insider trading, masquerading as the protectors of our old town of PENZANCE! Oh, who's that we almost overlooked? Why it's our old pal Mike Waters, misrepresentative of the Penzance Chamber of Horrors... Previous articles from the archives of The Limpet referring to Mike Waters can be found at:

See Page 8 of The Limpet, No.49, where Mike Waters does not rise to our challenge to prove his slanderous lies.....

Fascinating interview with Mike Waters in Issue 1 of 'The Crumpet':

& FINALLY, OUR MUCH-LOVED 'HUMPTY DUMPTY' POSTER OF MIKE.....

The sweet pretty things are in bed now of course
The city fathers they're trying to endorse
The reincarnation of Paul Revere's horse
But the town has no need to be nervous

The ghost of Belle Starr she hands down her wits
To Jezebel the nun she violently knits
A bald wig for Jack the Ripper who sits
At the head of the chamber of commerce

Mama's in the fact'ry
She ain't got no shoes
Daddy's in the alley
He's lookin' for the fuse
I'm in the streets
With the tombstone blues
